Crow silhouetted on cloister glass … a poem

Do you spy the crow on the window? This photograph was taken in the cloister of Basel Minster, March 2018, on a cold wet day in Basel, Switzerland. A crow can be a good or bad omen, depending on your perspective. What did its presence mean here in this church that played a role in the Reformation? I thought about the religious history, the schisms in Christianity, the various perspectives arising from those times. Erasmus, the philosopher and Christian humanist is buried at Basel Minster. Could this crow represent his spirit of the middle way, the doctrine of synergism, the cooperation between divine grace and human freedom? Read the poem here.
